Llyod Dolphins and MoneyOnMobile Marlins join them on podium
A continued supremacy by Daisy and Sam Coleman, complemented by strong driving of Indian debut pilot, CS Santosh with navigator Martin Robinson, put the Baleno RS Booster Jets at the top of the inaugural USD 1,25,000 NEXA P1 Powerboat, Indian Grand Prix of the Seas.
The three top finishes for the siblings and CS Santosh’ eight place finish in the third race and his impressive eight and ninth position finish in the first and second race respectively ensured that the Baleno RS Booster Jets ended as the winning team with 89 points and a cheque of USD 50,000. Lloyd Dolphins took second spot and a cheque of USD 20,000, with a total of 87 points with credit to the great driving of Craig Wilson and William Enriquez and husband-wife duo of Stuart and Sara Cureton. Third spot was sealed by MoneyOnMobile Marlins at 79 points with team members James Norvill and Christian Parsons Young finishing consistently, third in Race 3, fourth in Race 2 and second in Race 1 and fellow boat of the Norvall Brothers finishing amongst the top 10 on all three days.
Commenting on his, C. S. Santosh, a familiar face on the podium across motorsport, said, “The last two days have been a bit of a struggle but today, I seemed to have a much better handling of the boat and I was enjoying myself and having a lot more fun today. I think we did a good job today.” said the Dakar Rally finisher, who admitted excitedly that it would take him time before he would stop grinning from ear to ear.
With waters getting choppier through the weekend and the drivers managing the 1,650 KG Machine along 20 laps, the winning team was a fine example of strength and stamina. Daisy Coleman, was all praise for the two drivers of the team saying, “Sam and Santosh were the strongest boys on the grid and that showed. These boys were really pushing it and they deserve all the credit.”
The second Indian on the grid, Ultra Shark’s Gaurav Gill finished a respectable fifth place in Race 3 and ended Race Weekend with a total score of 34 points. Ultra Sharks team mates, the Jackson Brothers collected a total number of 30 points putting team Ultra Sharks in the fourth spot.
In the individual standings in Race 3, making the weekend, a hat-trick of wins, Sam and Daisy Coleman finished with a perfect 20 and went home with individual prize money of USD 12,500. Their closest competitors of Lloyd Dolphins’ Craig Williams and William Enriquez finishing second and took home USD 7,500 while third place finishers James Norvill and Christina Parsons Young were presented with a cheque of USD 5,000.
