The first Amaravati Global Music & Dance Festival created a thunderous atmosphere with delightful performances by some of the finest artists in the realm of music and dance. Curated By E- Factor Entertainment Pvt Ltd in association with Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department, the four day celebratory extravaganza from Feb 10th – Feb 13th 2017 created a cultural confluence with the best of classical performances against the backdrop of a beautiful sunset on the riverbank, along with popular forms of international music and dance under the starry sky.
The festival inaugurated by Hon'ble Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Shri. Nara Chandrababu Naidu kick started with the Sama Veda Chanting and aarti at the Pavitra Sangamam of river Krishna and Godavari. The astounding kathak performance by legendary Pandit Birju Maharaj was a viewer’s delight. Adding an international quotient to the commemoration, Kazakh State Philharmonic Orchestra presented a fusion act with the violin Maestro Padma Bhushan awardee, Dr. L. Subramaniam.
The aura of the festival took a soulful turn when Kavita Krishnamurthy, Talat Aziz and Suresh Wadkar set the mood on Day 2 with an amalgamation of popular bollywood numbers. Bhajan Samrat Anoop Jalota fascinated the audience with a scintillating rendition of ‘Bhakti Sangeet’ with his soothing and calming voice. Well renowned artists like Purno Das Baul and Langas put an enchanting performance, taking the audience in a trance. Binding the music cultures together, Sivamani and Trilok Gurtu brought the essence of different cultures on one platform perfectly with an astounding musical performance which left the audience amazed. The highlight of the show was dream girl, Hema Malini, who brought the celebration of dance and music to a befitting end with a magnificent presentation of the famous Mahalakshmi ballet.
The first of its kind river front festival in India also offered a gamut of exciting activities for travel and adventure enthusiasts. From camping in the lap of nature on an island just across the river front, to hot air ballooning, to paramotoring and water sports against the pristine waters of river Krishna, the Amaravati Global Music and Dance Festival left a lasting impact and contributed immensely to putting Amravati on the global tourist destination map
