Embassy Group reiterates its commitment to support neighbouring communities and developing social infrastructure in association with civic agencies such as BDA/BBMP in Bengaluru
Bengaluru, January 24th 2017: The newly-built Escalator Skywalk on the outer ring road at Nagavara junction opposite Embassy Manyata Business Park, funded and developed by Embassy Group, India’s leading property developer, in partnership with Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) and Bengaluru Bruhat Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) was inaugurated today. The escalator skywalk was inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister for Bengaluru Development Shri. K J George, Minister for Agriculture & MLA of Byatarayanapura Shri. Krishna Byre Gowda and the respectful Mayor of Bengaluru Smt. Padmavathi in the presence of Embassy Group CMD Shri. Jitu Virwani.The cost of construction for the escalator skywalk is in the tune of 7 crores and has been funded entirely by the Embassy Group.
With over 95000 employees working across 60 companies at the Embassy Manyata Business Park and around 15000 of them including local residents crossing this junction every day, the escalator skywalk is a huge relief for everyone. This particular stretch of the outer ring road had become infamous for the dangers it posed to pedestrians crossing the road every day, especially during peak hours. During Friday’s the junction would even see over 19000 people crossing the same. The project design was approved by all relevant bodies including the BDA in November 2015 and construction started in January 2016. The skywalk has been designed by BDA and M/S Nagesh Consultants and reviewed by STAWR Consultants, while Synergy Property Development Services managed the project.
Inaugurating the Skywalk Escalator, Minister for Bengaluru Development Shri. K J George, said, “It gives me immense pleasure to inaugurate the skywalk escalator at the busy Nagavara junction which will provide the much needed convenience to office-goers, local residents and the general public. I am sure it will also help the local authorities especially the police manage the traffic better. Just like how Embassy Group has come forward to fully fund this project, I encourage lot more corporates in the city of Bengaluru to partner with the various social infrastructure projects of the government and make living and traveling in Bengaluru safer and smoother.”
Minister for Agriculture & MLA of Byatarayanapura Shri. Krishna Byre Gowda added, “My constituency has many IT-BT companies and this is the first time a corporate has taken up a community project that benefits everyone. With vehicles increasing on this junction of the outer ring road, it had become a problem for pedestrians to cross the road safely. The newly inaugurated Escalator Skywalk at this accident-prone junction will help people at large use this facility now. I urge pedestrians to make the best use of this skywalk facility. I thank the Embassy Group and look forward to many more corporates to join hands with the government to develop the city further.”
The escalator skywalk, a first in the area is designed to encourage pedestrians to use it and provide the facility of crossing the junction safely and smoothly. The skywalk provides a hassle free solution to pedestrians ranging from office park users, residents of the surrounding areas and the general public using this junction. The skywalk also provides easy access from and to the bus stop on the south side of Outer Ring Road.
