Chandigarh, January 11, 2017: Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunication services provider with operations in 18 countries across Asia and Africa, today received the ‘Best Governed Company Award’ at the 4th Asia Business Responsibility Summit organized by the Asian Centre for Corporate Governance & Sustainability (ACCGS). The Award was received by Nilanjan Roy, Global CFO, Bharti Airtel from Lady Lynn Forrester de Rothschild, Chairman & Co Founder, Coalition for Inclusive Capitalism, UK and Mr. Richard Howitt, CEO, International Integrated Reporting Council, UK and former member of European Parliament, who also delivered the keynotes at the Summit.
The Asian Centre’s Leadership, Corporate Governance, Sustainability and CSR Awards are given to Companies, Industry leaders & Directors in recognition of the exemplary work done in improving Corporate Governance standards in areas of Board Transparency, Disclosures, Risk Management etc.
This prestigious Award for Bharti Airtel comes in the wake of several other recognitions for the Company during the financial year 2016-17 including its Top Ranking in Corporate Transparency and Reporting among 100 emerging market multinational companies by the Transparency International (TI), the Golden Peacock Award for Excellence in Corporate Governance and a Perfect Composite Disclosure Score of 10 by FTI Consulting.
