New Delhi, December 21, 2016: December has come bringing along all the joys of Christmas season, ushering in Delhi winters. This joyous phase for some is also a testing time for many as the cold waves which sweep the northern belt of India affect thousands of underprivileged people. This year Vodafone India one of India’s leading telecom service provider intends to extend and share the joys of Christmas. Residents of Delhi-NCR have the opportunity to be the Secret Santa for the people in need and make their contribution in their own unique way. The initiative is intended to utilize Vodafone’s effective reach, sensitize donor audience about the social cause, urge them to donate & then redistribute the collected gifts to needy.
Vodafone is leveraging its presence through 52 Vodafone stores across Delhi NCR and inviting people to make contribution in the form winter clothes and blankets. Proceeds from the activity will go to Goonj which works towards the welfare of the people in need. All one has to do is walk into a Vodafone store and donate the gifts. The initiative is open for all from December 21 to December 25, 2016.
Announcing this initiative, Apoorva Mehrotra, Business Head – Delhi-NCR, Vodafone India said,“The sentiment of sharing and generosity heightens around festive season therefore Vodafone wants to ensure that your charity and generosity reaches the right people who are most in need. The joys of festivity doubles when you know you have contributed in bringing smile in someone’s life, no matter how small that contribution is.”
“We are making use of our retail footprint in the region to facilitate this initiative. We are confident that this initiative will see an overwhelming support from the people of Delhi-NCR and together we will make this endeavour a success” he further added
There are Lakhs of people in Delhi-NCR who live in below poverty line. They are the ones who struggle to get the basic necessity such as clothes and food every day. With winter season dawning upon us, these people can definitely do with some layer of clothes and blankets to guard themselves from chilling winter Delhi-NCR is going to experience very soon.
