Usha International bags National Energy Conservation Award 2016


New Delhi, December 15, 2016: Usha International, India’s leading consumer durables company, has been awarded the third time at the National Energy Conservation Awards 2016 held in New Delhi today. The company has been recognized for its contribution in BEE Star labelled fan category.


Mr. Rohit Mathur, President- Fans, Usha International, received the award from the Honourable Minister of State (I/C) for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy, Shri Piyush Goyal at an award event held at Le Meridian Hotel, New Delhi. The National Energy Conservation Award is an annual award ceremony organized to celebrate National Energy Conservation Day and recognizes the contribution of companies from various industries towards energy saving.

On receiving the award, Mr. Rohit Mathur, President- Fans, Usha International said, “It is a moment of pride as our contribution towards National energy saving mission is once again recognized by the Government of India. Currently we have a range of 11 models of energy efficient fans that have been well appreciated for their quality, design and performance. These fans are available at various price points starting from Rs 1900/- . We plan to expand the range further with new launches across decorative and non-decorative fan categories. Usha reinforces its commitment to maximize its contribution to the national mission of energy saving, thereby helping to reduce the carbon footprint of the nation.”

In the Usha fan range is Technix, which is one of the lowest power consumption models in the industry with a 43 watts motor and comes with 5 Star BEE rating. Other models  with 5 Star BEE rating include Vetra Plus, Exxo, Ergo, Striker plus to name a few. Usha fans are tested for air delivery, input power, service value, safety and mechanical strength and other performance metrics. Usha has been instrumental in the roll out of the Energy Efficient fans scheme of the government and has won the tender at EESL for supporting the Energy Efficiency drive. 

The contribution of Usha fans towards energy saving over the past two years is calculated to be 20.9 million KWH units. This contribution is calculated by the standard formula introduced by Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), statutory body under the Ministry of Power.
