Increased automation and integration of Microsoft Visual Studio give developers new options in creating next generation of business-critical applications
Bengaluru, India, December 16, 2016 – Unisys Corporation (NYSE: UIS) today announced that it has added DevOps features to the latest release of AB Suite application development software with local Asia Pacific engineers playing a key role. The AB Suite Engineering team of 100 people is based in Australia, China and India and works collaboratively using agile processes for delivery and support of the product.
The Release 6.1 of its AB Suite® application development software is for both the ClearPath MCP operating environment on Unisys ClearPath Forward™ systems and Microsoft Windows platforms. AB Suite uses a model-driven approach, so programmers can automatically generate complete high-volume, business-critical applications from a set of business specifications.
Available from today - December 16, the new release incorporates features for DevOps – the close collaboration between the development and operations functions based on the automation of key processes – to speed implementation of business-critical solutions. It also provides new ease-of-use and developer productivity capabilities.
“This latest step in the evolution of AB Suite exemplifies Unisys’ ongoing commitment to helping clients redefine their data centers from hardware-centric facilities to integrated, flexible application software environments,” said Tarek El-Sadany, senior vice president, Technology and chief technology officer, Unisys. “This application-centric approach enables clients to deploy digital business models that make them more agile in seizing market opportunities and more responsive to their customers’ needs.”
K Nageswara Rao, vice president, India Technology Center, Unisys said, “This was an exciting release to work on considering the integration of DevOps features into the product to lead to faster development and release cycles for our clients’ applications development. Our product development engineers contributed significantly to this release by working collaboratively with our global counterparts.”
Following are key highlights of AB Suite Release 6.1:
· New DevOps capabilities for users on Windows systems enhance build automation across different test, acceptance and production environments for faster, more efficient application deployment. Release 6.1 also supports XML Framework, tying together data generated by applications from different vendors and domains, saving developers time and money in creating a heterogeneous yet consistent application environment.· AB Suite Developer now includes powerful features of Microsoft Visual Studio® Editor, so new generations of developers can use contemporary tools to deploy ClearPath Forward applications. Intellisense capabilities that automatically flag potential errors enable developers to create programs with greater confidence and accuracy.
· Updates and enhancements to the DMSII database, which is widely used on MCP-based systems, improve interoperability and continuity with existing application environments. New capabilities that increase the database’s scalability and flexibility facilitate upgrading to AB Suite of applications written with the predecessor Unisys Enterprise Application Environment (EAE) development system.
