Residents of Lokhandwala street woke up to a bright Sunday morning, Lokhandwala street turned into a no vehicle zone for a family fun day with Sports, Games, Yoga, Music, Dance, Food, Fun & Frolic, Arts & Crafts.

To bring the local residents together on a Sunday morning, the local residence of Lokhandwala, Oshiwara, Versova, 4 & 7 Bunglow of Andheri West suburbs had come together with an module call ‘Be Happy - Spreading Smile’, a neighborhoods free street event at the Lokhandwala Back Road on every third Sunday of the month. The event had a footfall around 25000 residents.
The street turned into a huge black board for many children; it was a playground for some others; a platform to showcase talents for school and college students; and a workout area for those interested in yoga and fitness programmes.
Be happy had organized different sports activity including- Dj Music, Flash Mob, Zumba, Aerobics, Badminton, Cricket, Football and fashion show by Archers Mrs India 2017; Dress courtesy Only Brands. Leading light of fashion industry Designer Shinu dadiala exhibited his collection. On the second day, there will be a workshop on tree plantation techniques too, educational camp, lecture on drug abuse and healing with music.
Over hundreds of women, conducted yoga for an hour. Students gave an enthralling band performance. And members of Laughter Club also occupied a space on the vehicle-free road. And, students also marched in with a band performance. A mind blowing performance, street play, by some students, music and races for children were some of the other activities.
The strong team of 36 Committee Members worked day in and out to make this free street dream a reality. Speaking about the street event which will be organized first time in Lokhandwala Back Road, Mr. Surjeet Singh Dadiala said "The event will not only bring the residents together but also bring back the childhood memories and help today’s generation children to play freely and reclaim the street. This will be the first free street experience for everyone in this locality.”
Mrs. Shalini Thackeray encouraging the participants at various programmes said "To make Sundays more engaging, we planned several interactive and group activities, road art, dumb charades, antakshari, music and dance. In addition, sports professionals lead fitness sessions and games, Zumba, badminton, frisbee, and karate and yoga"
Mr. Prashant Rane said " The initiative was to reclaim the road space for the residents for a few hours so that they could use it the way they want. Earlier we had a footfall of 9000 people now, today we had a footfall of around 20000 people, which is an excellent turnout of people"
