The strong reason for this action was the determination of the founders Shri M L Sreenivasa Sastry and Smt. Sundaramma Sastry to contribute to the Child Education in the memory of their late child Hymamshu, who unfortunately lived only for three years (1933-36) and still made an impact on their minds,” she added. Chitra is among these first five Children of the founder couple and hence, continues serves as the Chairperson of the Peetha.

The institution’s footprints on the sands of time also include many interesting achievements. The institution, which today gives PUC education as well, has over 2000 children and 150 staff over the years.

The Institution has been visited by great personalities like former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, VijayalakshmiPandit, KrishhaHuthesingh, General Cariappa, Justice Nittur Srinivasa Rao and many other dignitaries both from within the country and abroad.

Sri. B V Vijaykumar, Director, Hymamshu Jyothi Kala Peetha, said Hymamshu is further known, besides its good academic performance, for its discipline and ethics also. “Besides, large number of students comes from middle and lower income groups. Thus, Hymamshu has been serving over these  seventy-five years in a disciplined manner all sections of society with no donations and moderate fees,” he added.

New teaching methodologies and technology are incorporated for the holistic development of the student’s learning outcome. To serve rural students, HJKP will be commencing Hymamshu branch for the next academic year at Bagepalli in Chikkaballapur District.
