“Water Walkathon” 4500 Students participate in spite of inclement weather


India 14 November 2016: 
Goethe Institut (Max Mueller Bhavan) in association with Rotary Club of Madras East, conducted a grand Water Walkathon on Sunday – a fitting finale to the celebrations of German Students’ Week 2016. A total of 4500 Students and 250 Volunteers from 70 Schools out of which 20 Corporation schools participated in the walk, despite inclement weather. Students carried placards which highlighted the different aspects of ‘water issues’ faced by the common man in Chennai. Dr. R. Nataraj, MLA, Mylapore constituency  flagged off the event from Santhome lighthouse. Prizes were distributed for the other events held during the week like – Interschool Football  Matches (Boys and Girls) and Glass painting competition.
