SPECIAL VODAFONE STORE AT PAMBA TO SERVE RECHARGE NEEDS OF SABARIMALA PILGRIMS
Kochi, November 25, 2016: With the commencement of one of the biggest pilgrimage seasons in South India- the annual Mandala Pooja Mahotsavam, Vodafone India, one of India’s leading telecommunication service providers, has set up an All in One outlet at Pamba, the base point where Ayyappa pilgrims converge on their way to the holy shrine. The Vodafone outlet at Pamba was inaugurated by R. Girija, District Collector, Patanamthitta, earlier this week.
Sabarimala witnesses one of the biggest congregations of pilgrims in the world, with an estimated 45–50 million devotees visiting the shrine each year during the Mandalam season. For the convenience Ayyappa devotees, the Vodafone outlet at Pamba will not only serve the needs of Vodafone subscribers, but will also facilitate recharges for customers of other telecom service providers, through the Vodafone M-Pesa service. In addition to prepaid recharges facilities, the outlet is equipped to provide a variety of services such as M-Pesa, Money transfer, DTH – recharges and postpaid bill payments.
Conveying his Mandala Pooja greetings to all Ayyappa devotees, Abhijit Kishore, Business Head - Kerala, Vodafone India said, “Each year, lakhs of devotees from various parts of the country come to Sabarimala to invoke the blessings of Lord Ayyappan. Through the special Vodafone store at Pamba, Vodafone is making it simple and easy for pilgrims to stay connected and access related recharge, money transfer and bill payment services through Vodafone M-Pesa. Vodafone’s free incoming on national roaming plans will ensure that Ayyappa devotees travelling to Sabarimala from Andhra Pradesh & Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and other parts of India, remain connected with their loved ones without worrying about roaming tariffs.”
The Vodafone outlet at Pamba will remain functional from November 21, 2016 to the end of Makara Vilakku season, i.e. January 14, 2017.
