Roposo- What to wear for your friend's big day this wedding season

India 9 November 2016: With October ringing in, the wedding season is officially here. The next two months would be packed with wedding dates and people running around to get their outfits ready for all the functions to attend. It is even more big of a deal if it’s your best friend who is tying the knot! You have to dress your best yet be subtle. Sidhika Gupta, Fashion Head at Roposo, brings to you 8 ideas to help you shine bright:

Roposo- What to wear for your friend's big day this wedding season

1. Jacket Style:

Jackets have become a versatile fashion statement that can be modified in so many different ways. You could pair it with a lehenga-choli or team it up with an exaggerated palazzo. The Indian jacket in zardozi, embroidery, or intricate velvet is the one - stop solution for bridezilla fashionistas. Pick an opaque masterpiece in silk-brocade or go for a layered chiffon delicate. Fitted, flowing, flared, short, long, sheer, open or closed - doesn’t matter how you style your jacket because it’s all good.

2. Extended Choli

This is by far the trendiest update to the ‘always been there’ navel-high choli. The choli is extended further with net or lace attached to it, falling either high-low or straight onto the lehenga. Unique crystal placements and mirror will work as sly peek-a-boo sly to make you stand out staggeringly. The extensions that flow beneath the actual choli add length, grace, and volume to both the attire and your style.

3. The Indian Trail

Who said only the bride deserves attention in a wedding. Make heads turn and look your mermaid best in an exquisite trail. A trend which has been the favourite on the Hollywood red carpet.  We simply can’t complain the way it has come to the royal East. A trail adds glamour and richness to any lehenga, being a true A vant Grande couture for your besties big day.

4. Contemporary Chic

A couple of years back there weren’t a whole lot of options for the Indian girl. The ethnic wardrobe would only have two staple items - a dozen of salwar-kameez and some heavy - duty sarees. But cut 2016 and the world is your oyster. Capes, dhoti-pants, shararas, palazzos, and crop-tops - the drapes and silhouettes are endless. My favourite are the capes and dhoti-pants, being contemporary yet sophisticated, it is what every bride’s maid needs. Needless to say, you always need to be on the beck and call of your BFF, that calls for comfortable dressing without any compromise on the style.

5. Neutral and Monotone

An impeccable section of colour can do as much to your outfit as a designer does. Indian ethnic wear isn’t just about playing with silhouettes and embroideries but a great deal is about the colour. Choose from the neutral palette, or go monotone in blush, turquoise, teal or mint green - the vibrant colour will seamlessly up your game. To go a step further you could go obmre. Ombre has taken over the latest hair colour, nail paint and even lipstick trends. Ombre lehengas are surely the next step.

6. Floor Sweeping fantasies

The anarkali trend is not fading away anytime soon. No matter how many you have, there is always room for more. Make a sweeping statement in the Indian avatar of a gown and embrace its grandeur. The idea is to stun everyone with your impeccable taste, opt for a floor length anarkali yet choose to look different. Be thoughtful with layering and take cues from the season’s colours, cuts, embroidery and embellishments.

7. Minimalism

Minimalistic, free-spirited, and fuss-free is the mantra of modern Indian women. Then why restrict it to only everyday clothing and not take it to the weddings. If you detest heavy dressing, then this trend is absolutely for you. Go for tasteful elegance in place of an ostentatious display. Off-shoulder floral maxi-dress, chevron printed lehenga or a classic georgette saree can put you right under the spotlight. I strongly believe that the grace a bindi brings to your face is far more than the one with bold diamonds ever could.

We hope these tips were useful. Now go out there, raid your closet, add new things, and look your absolute best on your friend’s big day.
