Around 20 schools of Delhi-NCR took up the challenge of interpreting the theme “Swachh Hawa Shudh Jal, Swastha Rahega Hamara Kal” into intricate, interesting screenplays to get the message across to the audience in an entertaining but in a satire way.
The plays presented by the young minds were extremely informative and with sense of commitment. They emphasized on imparting the adverse effects and conditions of the environment we’re living in and the consequences of our inactions .The need of the hour is to better the environmental inheritance that we’ll be bestowing on our future generations as custodian for them. The Judges for the event were Filmmaker & Social Activist Dr. Lavlin Thadani, Director of the Living Room Theatre Group Ms. Sarita Vohra, Founder Safeducate Ms. Divya Jain, and School Project Coordinator, UNIC Ms. Aishwarya.
On the occasion, Iconic Cultural personality of India, Padma Vibhushan, Dr. Sonal Mansingh one of the “Navratanas” nominated by honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has been actively spreading the message of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan” through the powerful medium of performing arts, said: “I feel honoured to be a part of the initiative of PHD Swachh Paryavaran Campaign. Through my various dance and music presentations, lectures etc for the past five and half decades I have strived and made my best efforts to raise awareness about clean environment. Art has the ability to lift us out of morass of daily life and take us to a high level of mind and thought, If an art form does not reflect the existing milieu, it stagnates. Through this campaign and especially the inter-school plays that our young children have show cased I have given a powerful message to the society for better environment.”
Social Activist and Actress, Shivani Wazir Pasrich said “I recently wrote a piece to inspire school children to adopt swachhata. Working with the children, while being fun and rewarding, is tricky too. We can’t make it too monotonous so we tried to enable a hygiene conscious citizenry through a fun catchy song. Another major issue of concern is apathy towards our forests. I have been working on the “I am the Tiger” conservation project to create a like minded platform for people to spread awareness and take subsequent action for conservation and cleanliness. I congratulate the PHD Chamber on their Swachh Paryavaran campaign and hope it truly inspires the young people to think and act judiciously as the times require.”
Mr. G.S Singhvi Chairman, Swachh Paryavaran Campaign by PHD Chamber of commerce and industry aims to address the severe crisis of foul air and contaminated water on a war footing, which is also the major reason behind the depletion of vital nutrients among growing children. The Campaign which is designed from November 2016 to April 2017 will have the youth, school students, PSU’S, corporate houses, government organizations, UNIC, UNESCO, and NGO’S actively participating.
This campaign will inspire young minds to be future ambassador for “Mission Clean Environment” he said
