Bangalore, 7th November 2016:  South India’s leading Odissi exponent Sharmila Mukerjee and her dance ensemble Sanjali will present an Odissi dance performance showcasing the journey of Odissi and a composition on tribute to river Ganga.  The production will be staged at the Main Lawn at Bangalore club at Richmond Town on Saturday,  12th November at 7.30 PM. 

With every beat transformed into an expression, Sharmila’s choreographies exudes panache and fluidity that captures the audience. Her compositions are a beautiful mix of contemporary themes brought forth in traditional Odissi format. Her luminous presence on stage and the flawlessness in her craft is a treat for dance aficionados. 

Known for her lyrical renditions,  Sharmila has been instrumental in introducing Odissi to a wider audience in Bangalore.  Her dance institute ‘Sanjali Centre for Odissi dance’ trains as many as 100 students across 4 studios. With an increasing interest in Odissi over the past few years, Sanjali  Centre for Odissi is on a mission to revive and celebrate the dance form that is considered to be the oldest classical dance of India.
