India 2 November 2016: In today's age of globalization and technically mutated world, skill building is an important weapon to boost the efficiency and the quality of services for the advanced productivity and economic growth. India is today one of the youngest nations in the world with more than 62% of the population in the working age group (15-59 years), and more than 54% of the total population below 25 years of age. The opportunity to reap the benefits of “demographic dividend” has to be utilized only with the skilled workforce. Evidently, apart from meeting its own demand, India has the potential to become the worldwide hub for outsourcing skilled manpower.
A very important factor for the success of skill building programs at the grass roots , has been the practice of incorporating life skills training, within all skill training programs. This ensures that trainees who are completing any kind of skill building are also equipped with life skills. Skills and knowledge are the driving forces of economic growth and social development for any country. Countries with higher and better levels of skills adjust more effectively to the challenges and opportunities of world of work. It is an unique investment for harnessing the country’s demographic dividend. The challenge lies not only in a huge quantitative expansion of facilities
for skill training, but also in raising their quality. India can then become the global sourcing hub for skilled employees. The globalised world demands skilled manpower to convert growth opportunities into jobs and stable incomes. With millions of new job-seekers entering the job market every year, skill development has become one of India’s urgent priorities. Jobs and hiring in India needs to shift from being 'qualification based' to 'skill based. Skills and knowledge development are the driving forces behind the financial growth and community development of any country. Skill building is a powerful tool to empower individuals and improve their social acceptance
Quality of ‘Skill India’
Aim is to guide the youths in a manner so that they get employment or start their own business.
Skill India provide scope not only for the upcoming generation but it also provides training options for the traditional type occupations such as carpenters, welders, cobblers, tailors, nurse etc.
Skill India provides need-based programmes for the certain age groups which can be the communication or language skills, personality development skills, behavioral skills and job-employability skills.
The hurdles which youth across the world faces regarding their job and skills is completely different from what their parents faced. Due to the competition in global economy, industries and firms in developed and developing countries look for a worker or an employee with higher level of skills, who can engage in innovative task, can improve the quality and services of their company. It is a HIGH-TIME to improve the mental and physical development of the Indian youth so that they can be employed and move forward towards the targeted results. As the Indian youth is the ‘future’ of the country so they should also be skilled enough to create a ‘future’.
