Hyderabad, November 13, 2016: Running is for everyone. Running is fun. The great thing about running is that even kids get to participate at their own pace. Even a child who is not particularly athletically-inclined can set attainable goals, which will help boost their confidence and build healthy bodies and minds.
Since 2007, Hyderabad Runners have been actively promoting leading a healthy and active lifestyle and running as a preferred form of fitness. Taking this further, kids running was designed to pre-adolescent kids become more physically fit, promote an active and healthy lifestyle and combat the onset of childhood obesity. . . while having fun!
On a perfect Sunday winter morning, an unusual mix of ‘athletes’ was warming up inside the lush green Sanjeeviah Park overlooking the serene Hussain Sagar lake. On the occasion of Children Day, the Hyderabad Runners organized a kids run to celebrate the spirit and innocence of childhood and see the next generation of runners reveling in the joy of running without a care. Young kids and their parents, over 150 of them turned-up raving the early morning cold. They enthusiastically took part in a short run, games and fitness activities. The seniors too, celebrated fitness and camaraderie - some ran, some walked, some pushed strollers with infants as they ran/walked up 3 kms on the pathways inside the park. Post the 2 km run, the kids were treated to healthy snacks, bananas to refuel them and they were also handed over participation t-shirts. Proud of their achievement, a frenzy of selfies and pictures followed which culminated the fun-filled childrens run and few lessons learnt on adopting healthy lifestyles from a young
