CMR University held its First Annual Convocation


Bangalore, 3rd November 2016: CMR University conducted its first annual convocation for the Conferment of Degrees on successful students on Thursday, November 3, 2016 at its CMRIT campus, Bangalore. One Doctoral degree, 23 Executive MBA, 12 M.Com, 10 MSW and 11 M.Sc. Psychology degrees, six Gold Medals and four Rank Certificates were awarded to the meritorious students in person and in absentia.

Padma Vibhushan Dr. K. Kasthurirangan, Satish Dhawan Chair of Engineering Eminence, INAE and Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi was the Chief Guest at the ceremony, Shri Basavaraj Rayareddy, Hon’ble Minister for Higher Education, Govt. of Karnataka was the President and Shri K.C. Ramamurthy, IPS, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha & Chairman, CMR Group of Institutions was the Guest of Honour at the event where students and their families, faculty, alumni and staff of the CMR Group of Institutions also participated.

In his Convocation address Padma Vibhushan Dr. K. Kasthurirangan praised CMR University for its flexible curriculum of study that encourages creativity and cross-disciplinary learning establishing a new benchmark in quality and excellence. He congratulated everyone who are being conferred degrees as well as awards and wished for their success. He mentioned, “The traditional separation between science and technology and societal issues such as social development is no longer acceptable. I consider that wide-spectrum institutions like CMRU have a unique role to play for our present and future society in this context. The uniqueness springs from the experience and expertise in wide range of disciplines spanning diverse branches of learning.”

Adding more thoughts Shri Basavaraj Rayareddy said, “I consider it an opportunity to involve myself in the affairs of Higher Education in Karnataka, making sincere efforts to make higher education really worthwhile, meaningful and address itself to socio-economic upliftment of the society.” He addressed the graduating students emphasizing on the importance of fusing two things together – Education and Ethics, and graft them into the main courses of our studies.

Shri K.C. Ramamurthy awarded the medals to the meritorious students and the Rank certificates were presented by Dr. Sabitha Ramamurthy, Chancellor, CMR University.

The ceremony was both gracious and grand and CMRIT campus was a scene of festivities and happy faces and emotional moments with group photos, selfies, and celebrations adding to the mood. Family members exchanged notes of the success of their wards and immensely enjoyed the Convocation ceremony.
