Diabetes is posing a serious lifestyle challenge needing immediate attention and this initiative is committed to building awareness for diabetes prevention, management and making healthy yet tasty food choices. The core of Britannia’s philosophy is “Eat Healthy, Think Better” and taking this proposition forward we were the frontrunners in making biscuits with different grains, such as Oats, Ragi, and Multi-grain etc. The insights we received after speaking to many diabetics, caregivers, doctors, nutritionists, is that there were not enough food options for the diabetic population. This is why, we have invested into products such as Britannia NutriChoice Essentials, and are partnering with initiatives such as the Diabetic Food Trail. It’s a small step in the direction of making India more diabetic friendly.

The Britannia NutriChoice Essentials Masterclass enabled diabetics to recognize the importance of eating nutritious and well-balanced meals with a regular fitness routine for effective diabetes management, besides learning to read packaging labels and ingredient’s nutritional values through an interactive session with a renowned nutritionist Tushima Malshekhar. Along with that, Executive Chef Gaurav Paul, Hyatt Place, Gurgaon weaved his culinary expertise into crafting mouth-watering yet healthy food options spanning from Assorted Bruschetta, Grilled Chicken, and Catalan Spinach Orzotto. Aimed at busting the myth that diabetic food is bland and boring, audience was informed of each recipe’s caloric & nutritional value including that of the dessert. Ending the session on a high note, the chef and Ali Harris Shere of Britannia Industries came together to co-create a scrumptious Sugar free Tiramisu

Ali Harris Shere, Vice President - Marketing, Britannia Industries Ltd., “India is known as the Diabetes Capital of the world and ranks 2nd after China with 70 million people living with diabetes. NutriChoice Essentials can play a vital role in dietary management by catering to the in-between meal needs of the diabetic population. The products have a low Glycaemic Index which has been clinically proven and can help manage blood sugar levels and is thereby a great in- between meals snack for Diabetics. We are happy to be associated with the 2nd season of the 'Diabetic Food Trail' which is an excellent initiative to help diabetics be better equipped in managing the condition through changes in lifestyle and diet."
