Apollo Hospitals Beat Diabetes – “Take the Test” Campaign

India November 13, 2016: As a part of its CSR initiatives in Healthcare, Landmark Group in association with Apollo Tele Health Services organizes free screening camps through their “BEAT DIABETES – TAKE THE TEST” program. This campaign encourages people to take the blood glucose test, creates awareness about the prevalence of diabetes and educates people to promote a healthy diet, physical activity and self-care. “Take the test” activity will be conducted across 100 selected Lifestyle and Max retail stores across 18 states in India in the month of November. More than one lakh people are expected to undergo this test during the campaign period, which will be conducted for 10 days.

Commenting on the Beat Diabetes Campaign, Chairman Landmark group Micky Jagtiani said, “Diabetes will be the world’s seventh largest killer by 2030 and intense, focus and joint effort from all stake holders within society is required to tackle diabetes in India. ‘Beat Diabetes’ program strengthens our commitment towards society by spreading awareness on Diabetes and encourages people to undergo regular blood glucose tests. Early diagnosis, intervention and lifestyle adjustment is the key for longevity with Diabetes.”

Obesity is reaching epidemic proportions among India's middle-class children and adolescents primarily because of processed food, physical inactivity, unhealthy lifestyle and demographic transitions. Sangita Reddy, JMD Apollo Hospitals Group added, “India’s epidemic of chronic diseases has already passed its early stages; the demographic and epidemiological transitions that are in progress have important implications for individuals, families, communities, and the nation as a whole. For universal healthcare to be achieved, the emerging agenda of chronic diseases should be a political priority and central to the national consciousness of India. The time to act is now.”

Landmark Group as a part of its 'Social Initiatives' has been running the ‘Beat Diabetes’ program in India from 2010. The program has reached out to more than two lakh people in the past 6 years. Since 2015 Landmark group has collaborated with Apollo Tele Health Services, which has been the pioneer in technology based healthcare delivery, to take this initiative to new heights. This joint effort leveraging the vast network and expertise of both groups will help screen people across different geographies and increase awareness about Diabetes, which is a major concern for low-and-middle groups. ‘Take the Test’ activity will be conducted across 100 selected Lifestyle and Max Retail stores across India for 10 days.
