Rotary Club of Bangalore and global insurance leader AXA pledge commitment to key social projects


Earmarks Rs. 92.63 Lakhs for the social and economic welfare of Kodur village and other key healthcare initiatives

Bangalore September 27, 2016: Eighty two year old Rotary Club of Bangalore (RCB) today announced that they have inked a partnership with AXA, the leading global insurance and asset Management Company to co-fund three key social initiatives in India.

A fund of Rs. 92Lakhs has been set aside for this joint initiative including Rs. 57 Lakhs towards Kodur village to develop their educational infrastructure, improve living conditions and provide better employment opportunities through training. From this fund Rs. 35Lakhs has also been set aside to improve the healthcare infrastructure by setting up a dialysis centre in Bangalore that will provide easy access and quality care to the poor and needy.

Speaking on the occasion Rtn. Rango Rao, President, RCB, said, “We are very happy to receive this generous gesture from AXA. The funds will be used for setting up a dialysis centre with 5 machines in Bangalore as well as “support a village project” where in Rotary Club of Bangalore and AXA Business Services will be supporting Kodur village through means of meeting the cost of construction of a new school building, apart from solar lighting, drinking water, computer training and vocational training.”

While children will have a new school and infrastructure to pursue their learning, the youth will be up skilled to improve their employability quotient. We are also pleased to know that the dialysis centre that we will launch together will help address the need for affordable healthcare in Bangalore,” added Solomon Devaraj.

82 year old Rotary Club of Bangalore has come a long way with many accomplishments to its credit during the past 8 decades, growing to its present strength of nearly 262 affluent members.



In its long history of services to the community, RCB has established several projects like Rotary TTK Blood Bank, Rotary Bangalore Vidyalaya (School), Rotary MuthappaAttavar Hospital, Rajarajeswari Hospital and Dialysis Centre, 22 Rural schools in and around Bangalore Rural Dist. The club also regularly conducts debates, elocutions capabilities, recognizes citizen extraordinaire, awards pride of workmanship and conducts the longest running quiz competition for colleges which is ongoing for the last 57 years.

The club has been led by an illustrious set of luminaries’ and is considered as the premium club in District 3190. RCB has established 40 Global Grant projects in partnership with several international clubs from UK, Germany &USA.

About Rotary Club of Bangalore: RCB, the seventh club in Pre-independence India, came into being in 1934. It is part of the 106 year old Rotary International, and the second largest in the country.  It has members who are 250 strong affluent Business people.
