New service offers travellers more choice and flexibility
India 8 September 2016: Cathay Pacific Airways' new state-of-the-art Airbus A350 made its maiden long-haul flight on 1st September, 2016 to Düsseldorf, which departed Hong Kong shortly after midnight. Consequently, 2nd September, 2016 marked the commencement of scheduled services, by the technologically advanced A350 to the latest destination in the airline’s expanding network – London’s Gatwick Airport. Both flights completed its journey on schedule and the flight to Gatwick went near-full, with more than 90% of its seats occupied.
The new four-time weekly service between Hong Kong and Gatwick is ideally placed to serve both leisure and business travellers. The service offers a convenient way to travel to Hong Kong and beyond via the airline’s hub in Hong Kong for passengers living in London, the South East and South of England.
In addition of Gatwick to the airline’s network continues Cathay Pacific’s recent expansion in Europe, following the launch of Zurich and Düsseldorf last year and Madrid in June. In total, each week the airline operates 96 flights to 10 European cities, with the A350 flying to 2 of the cities.
The environmentally-friendly aircraft is equipped with the airline’s latest cabin products, an enhanced inflight entertainment system and Wi-Fi connectivity in all classes, enriching the experience of passengers and helping Cathay Pacific to deliver on its promise of a ‘Life Well Travelled’.
