India 04 August 2016: “Vivekini”, the Performing Arts Department of Swami Vivekanand High School, Chembur affiliated to Vivekanand Education Society (VES), has organized ‘Jagruti-2016’, a group patriotic songs competition on August 15, Independence Day. In its 25th year, the competition has invited participation from students from kindergarten to college level. Over the years, the competition has received an overwhelming response from other educational institutions.
“With a view to foster a spirit of nationalism and promoting Swami Vivekanand’s nationalistic values, Vivekanand Education School has been organizing this program to commemorate India’s Independence Day. We intend to bring the present generation on a common platform to pay homage to our illustrious freedom fighters who shed their blood so we could gain freedom. This is also a solemn time to take a vow to serve our nation to the best of our capacities and resources, “stated Shri. Mahesh Tejwani, President, Vivekanand Education Society.
The competition has been organized into three categories. In the first category, students from kindergarten to the 4th grade are eligible to participate. In the second category, students from the 5th grade to the 10th grade can take part and in the third category, junior college students and above qualify for participation. Participants will be organized in groups and will get a chance to display their singing talent through film and non-film songs themed around patriotism and national integration.
