New Delhi, 5th August 2016: A great Mini Maker Faire is scheduled to be held for the first time in Delhi on 6th of August at the campus of the renowned college IIIT-Delhi. Around 50 creative makers are expected to showcase their work at the event which is aimed at participants from all age groups. Makers from different background, skills and age group are expected to participate in the free of cost, first of its kind event.
The event shall be fuelled by mini workshops, D-I-Ys on display made by community makers, games, performances and interactive installations by volunteer teams. Stalls and interactive installations by volunteer teams and community partners and a few other industry sponsored workshops and stalls will also be set-up.
The dean of IIIT-D Mr. Pankaj Jalote stated that, “It is a wonderful experience to support ‘Maker Movement’ and help the nation be in vogue with the global trends in the industry. Such events raise awareness about possible innovations that one can think off, and also give confidence to the enormous amount of untapped talent we have”.
IIIT-D has also planned to have a 3-hour orientation session that is specially designed for the school management and senior teachers to take the first step towards transforming the way schools operate in new age learning environments. Use of newer technologies and computer-based teaching aids will also be prescribed in the Program. This orientation session shall be held a day prior to the Mini-Maker Faire, on 5th of August.
