New Delhi 20th August 2016: India’s well known Bollywood Actress Priyanka Kothari the paragon of women empowerment and the epitome of liberalization raised the slogan 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao' during India Day Parade, in New York City on 21st August 2016 Sunday at Madison Avenue, in the heart of Manhattan.
She conveyed to the media that her aim behind attending the parade is to promote PM Modi's Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign and spread this message across the globe. The parade was organized by Federation of Indian Association, the largest umbrella organization of the tri-state (New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut) representing more than Five Hundred Thousand people of Indian origin.
Speaking on the same Priyanka Kothari said, “I am grateful to attend India Day Parade and making people aware about 'Beti Bachao Beti Padao' - a call which is the need of this hour. Madison Avenue Parade is a perfect place to raise the voice for the betterment of women and society at large. Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao (save girl child, educate girl child) is a Government of India initiative intended to bring gender equality. The scheme will also help in the eradication of female foeticide & overall development of women."
