Smart Dubai Office presents Dubai’s roadmap to become world’s happiest city to KHDA


Dubai’s happiness agenda follows strategic portfolios of Discover, Measure, Change & Educate 

UAE, July 3, 2016 – H.E. Dr. Aisha Bin Butti Bin Bishr, Director General of Smart Dubai Office (SDO), recently headed a senior delegation to meet H.E. Dr. Abdulla Al Karam, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director General of KHDA. During an introductory meeting, she showcased a presentation on the happiness agenda whose implementation is overseen by the SDO to attain the ultimate goal of becoming the world’s happiest city.

During her presentation, H.E. Dr. Aisha said: “The happiness agenda, which has been approved by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, is primarily aimed at formulating a strategy related to happy life experiences that are based on scientific and academic theories. This strategy is designed to guide decision-makers and entities from both the government and private sectors to identify the impact of policies, programmes and new projects on the concerned customers, including citizens, residents, visitors and businesses.” 

The Director General underlined the importance of joint action and the need for united efforts with the founding strategic partners at this stage to make the Smart Dubai Initiative a grand success of which will firmly establish Dubai as the world’s happiest and the smartest city. 

H.E. Dr. Aisha explained that the happiness agenda follows an internationally benchmarked scheduled program, identifying 16 programmes in four strategic portfolios – Discover, Measure, Change and Educate – with the aim of achieving an unprecedentedly sustainable level of happiness for Dubai. 

The programme is aligned and integrated with Dubai’s roadmap to smart transformation, contributing in achieving the related goals. H.E. Dr. Aisha said that it targets all sectors with the objective to set new records worldwide in terms of the readiness and progress of Dubai which will enhance the level of happiness of its inhabitants, including citizens, residents and visitors as well as its vibrant business sector. 

H.E. Dr. Al Karam expressed his happiness on receiving SDO delegation. He said: “We continue with our ongoing journey to boost the level of happiness of our students and society according to the keen vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed who have urged to bolster Dubai’s competitiveness and support the goals of its strategic plan. This will not only provide the highest level of happiness and well-being but also become the emirate’s efficient partner in becoming the world’s happiest and smartest city.” 

He commended the distinctive efforts exerted by the SDO to implement its Smart Dubai Happiness Agenda that complements the emirate’s transformation into a smart city by adopting a globally unique, science-based approach, giving priority to the happiness of the community.

“It is an honour for the KHDA to be included in the list of happiness pioneers, having been honoured by H.H. Sheikh Mohammed as the first foundation to excel in implementing the most comprehensive programme of the Happiness Meter in Dubai,” H.E. Dr. Al Karam stated while underlining the KHDA’s support for all the strategic goals of the happiness agenda launched by Smart Dubai. 

H.E. Dr. Al Karam added: “We at KHDA believe that the happiness of our customers stems from the happiness of our employees. Consequently, we strive to create a healthy work environment that produces happiness which is marked by its ability to strike a balance between working and living a wonderful life. “We have a dedicated team for enhancing and managing these themes and programmes and we continuously track and monitor their implementation and completion rates. The feedback of our customers and their experiences with us are also important for us to ensure that the quality of these themes and programmes are constantly developed,” Al Karam concluded.
