Minister urges European Industry to expand Business to other cities in Karnataka than Bengaluru, and take advantage of the rich Human Resource talent, and thus reduce the Infrastructure crunch on the capital city.
09th June 2016, Bangalore: The European Business Group Federation ( EBG Federation) – Karnataka Chapter, launched a position paper on key policy recommendations for business growth yesterday in Bangalore. The paper was launched by the Chief Guest of Honour, Karnataka Industry Minister Shri. R V Deshpande, Chairperson, EBG Federation India - Mr. Raman Sidhu, Chairperson, EBG Federation Karnataka - Ms. Anandi Iyer & Senior Advisor, Position Paper & Sector Committee Chairperson - Mr. Rajeev Gupta. The event was attended by luminaries, policy makers, decision makers, industry pioneers of all European Companies including the General Consulates from British, German & Swiss.

Every year the EBG publishes an influential “Position Paper” which highlights the opportunities and challenges faced by the European Businesses in India. The European Business Group (EBG) Position Paper is a collective expression of the views of the members of EBG ( who are European companies from all European countries) and supported by knowledge partners on key aspects of the business environment in India such as ‘ease of doing business’. The EBG Position Paper proposes key recommendations that will be conducive to the growth of business and what could lead to ease of business and thus encourage European Business to look at the Indian market more forcefully.
The 2016 edition of the EBG Position Paper covered the following key sectors, including Agrochemicals, Alcoholic Beverages, Automotive, Aviation, Banking and Financial services, Chemicals & Petrochemicals, Defense, Energy-(Oil & Gas, Power), GMCG, Healthcare, Homeland Security, ICT & Innovation, Logistics, Real Estate, Retail and Telecommunications.
While addressing to all the key members from the European Business Group – Karnataka chapter at the launch of the EBG position paper yesterday, Mr. Deshpande said “Karnataka shares very strong alliance with all the European companies that have established here since past many years, there are several factors that have attracted the investors and big companies. However, I would also like to make a plea to you to look at expanding to places like Mysuru, Belagavi, Kalaburagi, Yadgir and Hubballi-Dharwad in Karnataka which are equally attractive in terms of connectivity, weather conditions, Human resource & infrastructure with an added advantage for low cost lands.
Much importance is also being given to improve infrastructure in Bengaluru too and we plan to set up elevated corridors and provide Metro connectivity to the airport”
Commenting on the launch of the position paper, Mr. Raman Sidhu – Chairperson, EBG Federation India said “The EBG Federation is growing steadily, and thanks to the great contribution by the European companies and their representatives.
