“The prospect of undergoing a spine surgery often causes a lot of anxiety in the patient and his/her family. But thanks to the advancement of spine srugery, it is possible to conduct safe efficient and painless surgeries which need less recovery time than earlier. We, at Indian Spinal Injuries Centre, are absolutely delighted to be able to conduct this live spine surgery course. We also see this as an opportunity to spread awareness about our advanced and specialized departments and modes of conducting a successful surgery,” said Dr H S Chhabra Chief Of Spine Service & Medical Director, Indian Spinal Injuries Centre

Spine ailments are amongst the commonest ailments. Back pain, for example is the second most common ailment after common cold.

“It has been clearly proven that if the person with a spinal injury reaches a specialized institution in good time, the outcome is far better. However there are a limited number of spinal injury centers in India. Further, patients reach these facilities at a later stage, after the damage is done. This compromises the outcome of management. However the last two decades have seen a renewed interest in India to improve services for those with such injuries. At present, with advanced treatments, patients can be discharged in a day or two after the surgery with a significant reduction of pain and the ability to walk in a couple of days. Additionally, our aim is for patients also receive good treatment after the surgery itself,” added Dr H S Chhabra.
