DMCA announces formation of RASEINA Maritime Domestic & Leisure Working Group to promote Dubai’s marine and leisure sector

The Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) has revealed the formation of RASEINA Maritime Domestic & Leisure Working Group, a first of its kind in the UAE, which aims to promote Dubai’s marine and leisure sector activities.

The group has been created in a push to advance the Maritime Sector Strategy and further lead Dubai into becoming one of the world’s most important maritime centers. It forms part of DMCA’s efforts to implement strategic programmes and innovative projects highlighting the emirate’s maritime services and effectively promote marine and leisure sector in Dubai, given its leading role in the local maritime sector.

The first meeting, which was organized by DMCA, saw the review of key topics covered in the Dubai Maritime Sector Strategy and identified the important goals to be achieved by the marine leisure sector as part of their continuing support to the emirate in becoming a pioneering global maritime hub. Participants also discussed the current status of the maritime leisure sector in Dubai and the challenges and opportunities within. They also talked about the joint work between the private and public sectors and the related guidelines, standards and procedures that can help in achieving the best results and the application of best practices to achieve sustainability of the sector and increase its level of competitiveness.

Amer Ali, Executive Director of DMCA, said that the decree paves the way for a new era of excellence in terms of promoting the competitive advantages of Dubai on the global marine leisure and recreational activities. He noted that the group is one of the best examples of active partnership between the government and private sectors, which clearly support national efforts towards developing, regulating and promoting the local maritime sector according to best global practices.

“RASEINA plays an important role as a major pillar in promoting the various aspects of local maritime clustering and supports the ongoing efforts in making Dubai as one of the world’s most prominent maritime capitals, in accordance with the wise vision and directives of the UAE Government. We look forward to see its establishment create a positive impact to the industry and meet the needs of maritime tourism and leisure stakeholders. With support systems such as advanced infrastructure, legislation and global maritime and logistics services, these endeavors will bring Dubai’s marinas on par with the best worldwide,” commented Ali.

“We are committed to providing the necessary support to ensure the success of the newly-formed team who will play a major role in building an integrated, competitive and sustainable maritime economy. The team is responsible for spreading awareness on the leisure activities of the local maritime sector in support of the efforts to establish Dubai as a leading center for maritime tourism in the region and the world,” he concluded.

Khalid Muftah, Director of Business Development Division at DMCA: “RASEINA’s group hopes to introduce new creative initiatives to the Maritime Sector Strategy to promote Dubai’s maritime cluster as one of the most comprehensive, distinctive and competitive worldwide. The group’s responsibilities include adopting best practices and formulating new goals and performance indexes and suggest new innovative programmes that will help develop and increase competitiveness of other maritime activities within Dubai’s local sub-clusters. It will also be reviewing pertinent issues affecting the current status and future of maritime leisure and promoting activities related to maritime crafts and leisure boats within Dubai.”

Feras Al Dahlan, Manager of Water Adventure Jet Ski Trading and Rental, was elected as the Chairperson of RASEINA group, which has 23 members including private companies and maritime firms.

The RASEINA group members include representatives from Palm Jumeirah Marina, Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club, Jebel Ali Resort and Hotel, Habtoor Grand Beach Resort & Spa, Dubai Offshore Sailing Club, Dubai Marina Yacht Club, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Dubai International Marine Club, Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort and Spa, Ports Fishermen, Xtreme Bike & Jetski, Watercooled Sports Services, Ride in Water Sports, Exclusive Boats Charter, Luxury Yachts, The Yellow Boats, Deep Sea Adventure, Super Yacht, Al Boom Marine, Bel Remaitha Club, Scuba Schools International and Marine Concept Boating & Yachting Training.
