FDI report of burden of dental disease states that in a year, oral diseases resulted in 2.4 million days of work and 1.6 million days of school lost in the United States alone. In Thailand, dental problems caused 1,900 hours of school lost per 1,000 children in 2008. Thus, oral diseases are major causes of economic and social loss for individuals and countries.
Visiting a dentist regularly helps to keep you free from painful dental disease and allows the dentist to watch for developments that may point to other health issues since mouth is the mirror of the body. A dental exam can also detect some systemic diseases, poor nutrition and hygiene, growth and development problems and improper jaw alignment that can potentially cause irreversible damage. These can be prevented if detected in childhood.
“People in Bangalore are so engrossed with their work life that they tend to ignore their dental problems. Dental care may appear to be a routine in everyone’s daily life, but neglect could cause pain and even result in serious ailments such as cancer. Through these camps Apollo White Dental, committed to preventive dental care, aims to create awareness about oral health and hygiene amongst all Bangalorean’s” said Dr. G.S.K. Velu, the Managing Director of Apollo White Dental.
