Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt. Ltd (HCCB) celebrated World Environment Day in the Paaparambakkam Panchayat in Thiruvallur district by rejuvenating the huge 200 acre Paaparambakkam Chembarambattu Lake. The outlay towards this initiative is Rs. 50 lakhs. So far, 60% of the work has been completed – Strengthening of bunds, reconstruction of weirs and construction of field channels.
Mrs. E. Sundaravalli, IAS – The District Collector, Thiruvallur; Mr. V. Mahendran – The Project Director (Deputy Collector), Thiruvallur; Mr. Sekar – Block Development Officer, Kadambathur Block and a big crowd of villagers took part during the occasion and made it a grand success. Mrs. Sundaravalli appreciated Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt.Ltd for its initiative to improve community water-bodies which would recharge the Ground Water and increase the Ground Water table of the surrounding villages. She also visited the Paaparambakkam Mudhali Pond, which was renovated by HCCB last year. Saplings were also planted as a part of the CSR activity.
