Talking to media Mr. Vikram Desai, President, ELCINA said “SES is a timely initiative as government has made its intention amply clear to enhance domestic value addition in this sector by active participation and investments by foreign as well as domestic companies. The role of Indian Companies & MNC’s is vital to achieve this objective and one of the goals of SES is to encourage the same by Policy advocacy and enabling closer cooperation between Indian and Foreign companies.”

“The demand of electronics products and systems in India is expected to grow to USD 400 Billion by 2020. At the conventional rate of growth of domestic production, it would only be possible to meet demand of about USD 100 Billion by 2020. Although the government attaches high priority to electronics and IT hardware manufacturing, its efforts have not led to a substantial impact owing to various policy restrictions.” Shared Mr Subhash Goyal, Past President ELCINA.

“Growth of electronics manufacturing in the country is being hampered due to lack of reliable power, high cost of finance, poor logistics and infrastructure and ELCINA is trying to provide a supportive eco-system through enabling development of Electronic Manufacturing Clustering and rectifying policy problems. Strengthening the presently weak components manufacturing base and encouraging targeted and proactive R&D are two other key challenges that need to be addressed,” further added Rajoo Goel, Secretary General, ELCINA.

SES is a yearly event that focuses on the Small & Medium industry and acts as a platform to bring together the government, defence organisations, private and public sector companies to have a role in catering to the country’s growing defence capability. It is a two-day event that also features an exhibition and conference that will focus on land, aerospace and naval systems along with homeland security.
