Applications open for an array of courses this summer

Mumbai, 3rd May 2016: Swarnabhoomi Academy of Music (S.A.M.), Asia’s premier college for   contemporary music invites applications from aspiring musicians for the summer 2016  starting May 30th 2016. As part of summer 2016, SAM is launching its exclusively designed Indian Music program under the mentorship of internationally acclaimed Carnatic violinist Dr. M. Lalitha. She has the privilege of being the fourth generation of musicians in her family & stands today amongst the most outstanding instrumental musicians of Carnatic Music. She is the niece of the virtuoso violinist and award winning composer Dr. L. Shankar. This Summer, students can choose from an array of fully-residential courses that are open to all like the seven week intensive program on Music Performance, Music Production, 10 week Foundation Music Program and the newly launched 10 week Indian Music Program.


Scheduled to begin by end of this month, the seven week Summer Intensive Program on Music performance led by Ms. Magos Herrera & band will cover a range of topics like music theory, instrument labs, private lessons, ensembles and basic carnatic studies by Dr. S. Karthick and Mr. Sreyas Narayanun. The program is carefully designed to offer students/skilled musicians a platform to hone their skills and become successful performers.  The Summer 2016 semester also offers a  seven week Music Production program mentored by acclaimed audio engineer Barry Hogan(USA), which will cover the nuances of recording, mixing, programming and sequencing giving students an in depth knowledge and exposure to international music production standards. Apart from the seven week programs, SAM also commences its exclusively designed 10 Summer Foundation music program which is aimed at nurturing beginners with a solid foundation in music.

Taking music education one step higher, SAM is all set to introduce its students to an exclusive Indian Music Program. With classes and workshops organized by the who’s who of Indian Carnatic Scene, the 10 week intensive program will cover basic and advanced modules in Indian Music, basic music theory and private lessons.

The faculty line up for the Summer 2016 semester comprises of an exciting mix of Grammy award nominees and internationally acclaimed artists like Magos Hererra(Mexico) and her award winning band comprising of Fabio Gouvea (Brazil), Alex Kautz (Brazil) and Felipe Brisola(Brazil) along with Barry Hogan(USA), Sreyas Narayanun(India) and Dr. S Karthik(India).

 A competitive fee structure for the summer program is packaged to offer tuition fee, food and accommodation in fully furnished serviced apartments and facilities like media lab and library. The campus is spread across 4 acres with an imposing 29,000 sq ft LEED gold certified green music facility equipped with state of the art equipment.
