Mumbai, May 2016: Recently, the official theme song for the ninth edition of the IPL was launched, an upbeat tune titled - Ek India Happy Wala. The song has been composed by none other than Salim-Sulaiman, with the lyrics penned down by DDB Mudra India that convey happiness and positivity for a game that the whole country is enthusiastic about in the spirit of unity among the competition. The official video for the song was powered by Qyuki Digital, the MCN and digital agency co-founded by Samir Bangara, Shekhar Kapur and AR Rahman.
Directed by Shakti Hasija, the video features Salim-Sulaiman and Raj Pandit performing against a strikingly patriotic tricoloured background. “Jahan darr ka nahin, nafrat ka nahin, bass jeet ka shor ho, ek India ho to aisa ho. Ek pyar wala, muskan wala, ho ek India happy wala” are the opening lyrics to the song, that is sung by Raj Pandit, that deliver a great message of brotherhood and love and promoting healthy competition.
Commenting on the same, Salim Merchant said, “The true feeling of happiness is attained when you give happiness to others. Ek India Happy Wala was one such incredible project which made us very happy spreading our happiness with others.”

The song has already become an anthem for the IPL spreading happiness and an attitude of healthy sportsmanship. The thought that inspired the song was one that looks at India as being a peaceful country with love and humanity in all parts. Cricket is an immensely popular sport in India and the Indian Premier League has not only helped the sport go global but also create a festive atmosphere around the country.
