400 Performers; Around 2500 underprivileged children from 28 NGOs and Corporate Executives in and around Mumbai witness the talent show
Mumbai, May 5, 2016:
Flowing from the founding principles of Raise Yourself to Help Mankind - RYTHM and InService which encourages selfless service, QNET partnered with Our Children Trust for their 34th Children’s Meet. The partnership was under the CSR banner of QNET We Care.
The event took place at Shree Shanmukhananda Hall, Sion East today. Around 2500 underprivileged children from 21 NGOs in and around Mumbai attended this mega event which is organised every year. The Children’s Meet is the flagship event of Our Children where the children get their moment of prominence and perform in front of other children and leaders of the corporate world. This year, 400 artists from 21 NGO’s presented on stage a beautiful show of fables and stories.
Seva Sadan Society, Gamdevi who performed “The Legend of Krishna” bagged the 1st prize out of 21 participating NGOs. During this event, students also demonstrated their painting skills.
Our Children started with an objective of working with underprivileged children to provide opportunities and prospect of a better future since 45 sedulous and committed years. The idea towards helping the less fortunate triggered when the founders took notice of an ample amount of food being wasted and thrown away in their places of work. That is when their resolute minds decided to contribute to the financially weaker sections of the society.
QNET officials stated: “Children have distinct rights guaranteed under the constitution and these rights need to be ensured to them as a matter of national priority. The normal response to children's needs is largely welfare oriented and charitable. This needs to change. With this event, we hope this results in valuable insights into the existing situation of children engaged in child labour which needs to be tackled.”
QNET works with credible NGOs and associations like Lions Club, so as to encourage active involvement of all its employees and independent representatives, on ground. QNET is inspired by the example of selfless service set forth by Mahatma Gandhi.
The QI Group of Companies, the parent company of QNET, is a proud member of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) Network – the world's largest corporate sustainability initiative. QNET internationally has been working extensively to cater to the needs of homeless and destitute as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. It has been sustaining a health check drive at the Home of Hope, Bangalore, where more than 200 Destitute Adults have undergone a 2 month intense health program through the consumption of NUTRIPLUS Protein Power – health supplement from QNET, India.
