Celebrating the spirit of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, Mphasis, a leading IT services and solutions provider today announced its roadmap for ‘Digital Accesibility’ which include:
· Comprehensive Accessibility Solutions that include maturity assessment systems, customized learning management, review services for digital assets, consulting & training services and assistive technologies. These solutions are intended to empower persons with disabilities in the digital world and enable them to access digital content, web pages, mobile applications, and use all kinds of digital assets effortlessly
· Partnership with Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) for a Digital Accessibility Initiative (DAI) to:
o Develop and test accessible applications, products for the community of persons with disabilities
o Fund fellowships to create a talent pool for creating accessible products and services
o Conduct high impact research on Digital Accessibility

Mphasis has a strong history of advocacy and success in accessibility; receiving the NCPEDP-Shell Helen Keller Award and President’s Award for inclusion and employment of individuals with disabilities. Mphasis found that the lack of accessible assets means losing out on 20% of quality talent; over 400 of their employees are with disability/s. Mphasis has also partnered with The International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-B), to support and nurture deserving social enterprises including that of addressing the challenges faced by disabled.
In association with NCPEDP, Mphasis had instituted the ‘Universal Design’ award for individuals and organisations working to create an accessible and barrier-free society for persons with disabilities in the areas of built environment, transport, ICT, services, aids and appliances. In an effort to transform Bengaluru into a mobility friendly city for persons with disabilities and elderly, Mphasis has partnerd with IIIT-B, incubated India’s first accessible cab service called ‘KickStart Cabs’ with the NGO - ‘Wheels of Change’ to launch cab service.
