Now in its 12th year, P&G Shiksha continues to make critical infrastructure and learning interventions by building and supporting schools across the country thereby providing underprivileged children with access to education. Taking the programme ahead this year, P&G Shiksha launched ‘Shiksha Superheroes’ a campaign to acknowledge consumers, the real-life superheroes who make a simple brand choice of buying P&G products and contribute to this noble cause impacting the lives of thousands of underprivileged children. Joining the movement this year, actress Lavanya Tripathi donned the avatar of ‘Shiksha Superhero’ for the students of P&G Shiksha School in Hyderabad. Lavanya emphasized on the importance of education in the lives of children and encouraged the people of Hyderabad to be Shiksha Superheroes by simply choosing P&G Products and contribute to the education of underprivileged children. Lavanya shared her school memories with the children and was very impressed with the confidence, intelligence and exuberance demonstrated by them.
Renowned actress and Shiksha Superhero Lavanya Tripathi expressed her joy by saying, ““This is my first year of partnering with P&G Shiksha, and I was delighted to witness the impact that it has created in Hyderabad by building and supporting 15 schools that impact more than 5000 children. I firmly believe that education is a basic right of every child and it is heartening to see a movement like P&G Shiksha facilitating education for underprivileged children and helping them realizes their dreams and providing them a better standard of living. Kudos to P&G Shiksha for the phenomenal work that they are leading in the area of education and long may it continue.”
She further added, “Today, at the P&G Shiksha School, I realized that how simple it is to be a Shiksha Superhero and impact the lives of underprivileged children. Everyone can become a real-life Superhero, all you have to do is choose P&G products and become part of the P&G Shiksha movement that will enable you to contribute towards education of underprivileged children. Like me, I want to encourage the people of Hyderabad to be Shiksha Superheroes by making the simple brand choice of buying P&G products and make a difference in the lives of many more children. It is a simple and small choice from our end but has a large impact on the lives of these children.”
During her visit to the P&G Shiksha School in Keshavnagar, Hyderabad, Lavanya also elaborated on the interventions made in this school. With the help of its NGO Round Table India (RTI), P&G Shiksha has added 4 classrooms and a toilet block to the school that resulted in a substantial increase in the number of students from 170 earlier to 270 now. Just like this school, in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana alone, P&G Shiksha has improved the lives of more than 5000 under privileged children by building and supporting close to 15 schools. With the objective of providing access to education to every child across the nation, P&G Shiksha is working extensively by making key infrastructure interventions. P&G Shiksha has been instrumental in the change by equipping the schools with necessary amenities from building classrooms to providing clean drinking water to setting up playgrounds thereby bringing down the dropout rate and improving overall literacy rate in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
