India, 20th of May’16: In order to promote India-centric research in the area of empirical finance and corporate governance, the Finance Lab of IIM Calcutta has joined with the Stern Business School, NYU to hold the first-ever India centric conference in the US. The primary objective of the conference is to showcase and discuss research on Indian financial markets and corporate governance.
India is now the world’s third largest economy in real terms, with a rapidly developing financial system. This conference brings together the world’s leading academic and industry experts for an in-depth discussion of India’s financial markets and implications for the global economy.
This is the first time any IIM is holding a research conference outside India. All discussions in the conference will centre around India and Indian financial markets. This is an annual event.
Prof. Ashok Banerjee, Professor of Finance and faculty-in-charge, the Financial Research and Trading Laboratory IIM Calcutta, who is spearheading the conference said, “The proposed conference would attract academics, industry practitioners and policy makers. This platform would enable us to know the interests about issues concerning India's financial markets among academics in the US and Europe. The networking opportunities in the event will help us identify researchers who are interested to work with Indian data. This may create possibilities of collaborative research for IIM Calcutta faculty with academics in the US and Europe.”
