If this is something that you found interesting, we have compiled our recommendations for you…
Introduction to Aeronautical Engineering– DelftX – Self Paced
This course provides an overview of and introduction to the fundamentals of aeronautics, using the history of aviation as a story line. The course uses examples from the very beginning of aviation (the Montgolfier brothers’ balloon flight in 1783 and the Wright brothers’ heavier-than-air flight in 1903) and continues all the way through to the current Airbus A380 and future aircraft. During this trajectory three major topics are discussed: aeronautics, aerodynamics and flight mechanics.
Introduction to Solar Systems Astronomy - ASUx- June 06, 2016
In this introductory 4-credit hour lecture and laboratory course, learners will explore the origins, structure, contents, and evolution of our solar system and exosolar planetary systems. They will cover the history of astronomy, properties of light, instruments, the study of the solar system and nearby stars.
Introduction to Real-Time Systems– IEEEx – Self Paced
This computer science course provides an overview on designing and analyzing real-time operating systems (RTOS). Found in most mission critical and infrastructure systems, real-time systems are both challenging and rewarding to build.
From Goddard to Apollo: The History of Rockets, Part 1– IEEEx – Self paced
This aerospace history course will take learners back in time and trace the many developments in technology that transformed rockets from celebratory accouterments to weapons and finally to launch pads for human space travel. It is a story of technology, but ultimately the emphasis on this course is about people. Some are very well-known, but others not so.
Human Spaceflight - An introduction–KTHx – April 18, 2016
This applied science course introduces aspects of human spaceflight, including the various environmental, medical and technical challenges of space travel.
Join Christer Fuglesang, Director of KTH Space Center, and European Space Agency (ESA) astronaut, during this 5-week course in which Christer makes human spaceflight both accessible and engaging. Christer often draws on his own experiences as an astronaut which include two Space Shuttle missions and five spacewalks.
Astrophysics– ANUx- Self Paced
The Astrophysics XSeries Program consists of four foundational courses in astrophysics taught by prestigious leaders in the field, including Nobel Prize winners. Learners will be taught by Brian Schmidt, who led the team that discovered dark energy – work which won him the 2011 Nobel Prize for Physics, and by prize-winning educator, science communicator and astrophysics researcher Paul Francis, who will take them through an incredible journey where they learn about the unsolved mysteries of the universe, exoplanets, black holes and supernovae, and general cosmology. Astronomy and astrophysics is the study of everything beyond Earth. Astronomers work in universities, at observatories, for various space agencies like NASA, and more. The study of astronomy provides learners with a wide range of skills in math, engineering, and computation which are sought after skills across many occupations. This XSeries Program is great for anyone to start their studies in astronomy and astrophysics or individuals simply interested in what lies beyond Earth.
