Forest officers in India live and work in extremely challenging circumstances. Apart from being away from home with no telecommunications, they also do not have access to basic amenities like electricity, sanitation facilities and gas, which we city-dwellers take for granted. Forest guards are also exposed to attacks from animals and poachers on a daily basis.
The officials were so touched by the gesture, that they requested her to offer the first serving to the local forest deity as 'prasad'. The actress is well-known for her strong pro-environment and social activism. She was only too happy to bring a smile to the faces of the forest guards and promised to visit them again soon!

Ganga, The Soul of India airs every Sunday at 12 noon on Living Foodz.
