Mumbai, 20th April 2016: SOLILOQUIES, Kirti Chandak’s Solo Painting exhibition kicked off on Tuesday, inaugurated by Chief Guest Shri Satish Soni, Director Tourism Government Of Maharashtra and Joint Managing Director, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation. The exhibition at India’s most famous Jehangir Art Gallery, A/C Gallery No.3 is open to public from Tuesday 19th April to Monday 25th April, 11am to 7 pm.
Shri Satish Soni admired the art displayed at the renowned Pondicherry Artist Kirti Chandak’s second solo painting exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery, the first solo show being in 2002. She is also the owner of one of the most visited sites of Pondicherry, the TASMAI art centre started in 2013.
Nasik Born and Pondicherry settled, Kirti Chandak, a famous artist, curator and art teacher, while teaching and organizing events under the umbrella of Shilpataru, continues her ongoing research work in painting and art installations. She participates regularly in exhibitions in different parts of India as well as abroad and also curates art happenings. Kirti’s work is very autobiographical with always a conscious intention to expose and sensitize society related issues, making people reconnect themselves to nature and inner voice.
Ms. Kirti Chandak commented, “I am always open to experience artists’ residencies in different countries to learn about varied cultures, create mutual dialogues and exchange of one’s creative works through exhibitions, workshops and seminars. For I believe it is through meditative practice and sharing of one’s ideas and work processes that art blossoms.
