· SANY Group to design, manufacture and supply of Electric Rubber-Tyred Gantry (ERTG) Cranes

Mumbai, April 14, 2016: SANY Group, one of the leading manufacturers of port logistics equipment, has signed a contract today with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) for Design, Manufacture and Supply of 15 numbers of Electrically operated Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (E-RTGCs). The contract was signed at the Maritime India Summit 2016 in Mumbai between Deepak Garg, CEO of SANY India and A J Lokhande, Chief Manager, Mechanical & Electrical and Port Planning & Development, JNPT, in the presence of Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Shipping, Road Transport and Highways, Mr. Anil Diggikar, Chairman, JNPT, and Mr. Neeraj Bansal, Deputy Chairman, JNPT.
The landmark contract flags on the entry of SANY Group into the Heavy Gantry Cranes segment in India. The E-RTGCs developed by SANY come with best-in-class technology, efficiency and performance and will further enable JNPT in developing their port to match the evolving needs of port logistics industry. This new batch of E-RTGCs from SANY will modernize the existing fleet, catering to increasing traffic at the JNPT.
The E-RTGCs is a part of GREEN PORT INITIATIVE project.
"We were in need of additional RTGCs to ensure minimum cycle time and to support the traffic demand. After induction of 15 new E-RTGCs, JNPT will be in position to cater to EXIM trade in more efficient manner.” Says Mr. A J Lokhande , Chief Manager, Mechanical & Electrical and Port Planning & Development, JNPT .

Equipped with jacking yard-turning mechanism, it can travel laterally and longitudinally and is equipped with self- rotary for bunching operation and independent operation. Our intent is to associate with ports like JNPT and contribute to the development and modernization of ports in India.”
Currently, SANY Group employs about 30,000 people globally and 300 people in India. SANY Group entered India market in 2002 and established a manufacturing plant in 2009 in Chakan, Pune. In India, the company manufactures excavators, truck mounted cranes, crawler cranes, transit mixer, batching plant, motor graders, piling rigs, etc.
