A function was organized at Air Force Auditorium, Subroto Park New Delhi. Shri Manoj Sinha, Hon’ble Minister of State for Railways, was the Chief Guest of the function. On this occasion, Shri Satish Agnihotri, CMD, RVNL, welcomed the guests. Members of Railway Board, Shri V K Gupta, Member Engineering, Shri Mohd. Jamshed, Member Traffic, Shri Pradeep Kumar, Member Staff and Shri Hemant Kumar, Member Mechanical also graced the occasion. 21 individual awards, 4 group awards and 8 shields were given to the achievers of RVNL which include citations as well as cash awards. The award function was followed by a musical treat by Shri Sudesh Bhonsle.

Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL), a 'Mini-Ratna' PSU was created in 2003 to undertake project development, mobilization of financial resources and implementation of railway capacity augmentation projects. It is the first major non-budgetary initiative for creating rail transport capacity ahead of demand and on a commercial format.
RVNL has been continuously rated as “Excellent” by the Department of Public Enterprises for the last 4 years. In 2014-15, RVNL was ranked 1st amongst all the Railway PSUs and 6th out of a total of 215 Central PSUs that were rated. Having achieved the targets set, the Company is also poised to obtain an “Excellent” rating for 2015-16.
The turnover of the Company in 2015-16 has grown to about Rs. 4500 crores. The pace of delivery of projects has improved steadily and during the past year RVNL has completed 352 km of Doubling which is over 50% of the Doubling works completed by Indian Railways.
