Eat what’s in the bowl, eat the bowl itself!
Bengaluru, April, 2016: Something interesting is cooking at KFC. Starting Thursday, 28th April, consumers can try out edible Rice Bowlz at KFC restaurants at CMH Road and Mantri Mall UG. With a view to replace plastic packaging at its stores, the brand is testing edible packaging for its popular KFC Rice Bowlz.
The 100% edible KFC Rice Bowlz replaces the plastic bowl packaging with a Tortilla bowl. The crunchy tortilla combines deliciously with the chicken, rice and gravy to take the experience of having the KFC Rice Bowlz one notch higher. What’s even better is that this packaging is not just edible but also completely bio-degradable. KFC is making these tortilla bowls fresh in-store by frying the flour tortillas using a specially developed mould.
Rahul Shinde, Managing Director, KFC India said, “As a socially and environmentally responsible company, we are working to find a cost-effective and sustainable long-term solution that can replace plastics. One of the things that we are experimenting with is the edible Rice Bowlz– an innovative and delicious solution that replaces the plastic bowl packaging with a Tortilla bowl. Rice Bowlz are amongst our best-selling menu items, and we are trying to give it a delicious and eco-friendly twist.
We are going to be testing this at select stores in Bengaluru over this week and eagerly await the consumer response.”
Available in both Veg and Non-Veg variants, the all-new avatar of the famous KFC Rice Bowlz will be available across select stores in Bangalore from April 28th- May 04th, at prices starting Rs 89/ -.
