 VANCOUVER, BC, CANADA : Indian Designer and fashion expert Akshay Wadhwa got a standing ovation for his much revered collection at the recently concluded Vancouver Fashion Week. His collection named, "Adyashakti" was set in the backdrop of the mystical era of Mughals, Cholas and the Maratha women warriors. The comfort and grace of the silhouettes matched the class and edge of the dramatic embroidery. The pieces are designed for the ferocious and powerful women of the 21st century. Royal Blue, Black and Golden colors set the tone of the collection marked by the intricate detailing and craftsmanship.

Vancouver Fashion Week (VFW) was in its 27th season and 16th year.  Kicking off on March 14th with their opening gala featuring a designer showcase, each designer showed their top piece as a prelude of 'things to come' during the next 6 days.  It was a packed house, and an impressive show from the models and designers!

VFW keeps growing and improving as the seasons pass, and this installment featured over 100 runway shows highlighting the hottest trends for fall/winter 2016.

Akshay who is enjoying the media frenzy and huge response to his designs in Canada adds, “VFW has proven to be a great platform opening up the Canadian market for us. The response has been tremendous for my fusion collection that touches upon the Indian aesthetics while being western in its design appeal.” Akshay has a stand alone store in Delhi and is retailing through multi-brand stores in Mumbai, Dubai, Canada and US.
