“HUL in joint association with Sankara Eye Hospital organized a session to educate their employees about living with blindness”
Monday, 25th April, 2016: As part of the Well-Being week observed from the 19th to 25th of April, HUL R&D Centre, in association with Sankara Eye Hospital organized a Blindness Awareness Program for their employees. The employees got to experience first hand the drawbacks faced by visually challenged individuals in their day-to-day lives.
The employees engaged in various activities like, scouting for objects when blind-folded, using vision stimulated glasses for practical exposure on vision implication and learning Braille under the guidance of a special educator. The purpose of the event was to familiarize people on the basic challenges that accompany a visually challenged person.
The participants also pledged to donate their eyes and offered donation to support poor children and adults in need of vision restoration and cataract surgeries.
The event was accentuated with a presentation on “Miracles Cannot Cure The Blind”, delivered by Dr. Kaushik Murali, President Medical Administration, Quality & Education, Sankara Eye Foundation India. Dr. Murali highlighted the need to for every individual to take a proactive approach towards eye donation and urged the gathering to pledge their eyes for a noble cause
