Lakshay Mohan (Sitar) and Aayush Mohan (Sarod)

Lakshay and Aayush Mohan are acknowledged among the youngest and most talented Sitar & Sarod players and hail from the Maihar Gharana. They have been given a strong foundation in the Maihar style of playing by Padma Bhushan Smt. Sharan Rani and Pt. Uma Shankar Mishra, and have studied extensively for many years under

Pt. Balwant Rai Verma, the senior most disciple of Pt. Ravi Shankar. They have also learnt from acclaimed Sarod maestro Pt. Tejendra Narayan Majumdar.

They have performed at prestigious festivals and venues such as India Fine Arts Academy, San Diego, Thyaghraja Festival, Cleveland, Learn Quest Music Conference, Boston and The Abbey Theatre, Columbus. Lakshay and Aayush were also the first Indians to be invited to perform at The Grammy Museum, Los Angeles for the opening of the exhibition – “Ravi Shankar: A life in music”.

They have received many awards and accolades including ‘Excellence in Performing Arts’ awarded by Lok Sabha Speaker Smt. Meira Kumar and Sh. Shatrughan Sinha on the 75th birth anniversary celebrations of litterateur and parliamentarian Late Dr. Shankar Dayal Singh, and the Delhi Pratibha Puraskar by Arts and Cultural Trust of India.

Their album ‘The Hidden Harmony’ has been nominated for the Best Classical Instrumental album at the prestigious Global Indian Music Academy (GIMA) Awards 2016. Their other albums include ‘The Majestic Court’ by Times Music and ‘Echoes from the Yellow Land’ by Mystica Music.
