“My next film stars two women. But the casting of this film is more difficult than Happy New Year,” said director Farah Khan at her unique Masterclass at Osianama at Liberty. Stating that the actors of today are smarter and more detached, Farah talked of how earlier, actors worked with their heart and their love for cinema was evident in their work and their approach to work. Today, the friendships and fights are not there because the bonds are not as strong,” she averred, adding that since the current film stars two women, it is not easy two actresses who would love to work with each other. “I am awaiting the date,” she smiled when quizzed. “I will announce when I get the date. If I say a name today, it will be in the headlines tomorrow.”

Farah Khan also shared her Cinematic Choreography with a special focus on Indian Cinema with Neville Tuli, Chairman, Osian’s Group and the driving force behind Osianama, followed by a Q&A session with the audiences. Said Tuli, “ “Dance and Music is at the heart of one kind of Indian cinema, what is rudely and lovingly called ‘Bollywood’. Choreography is the heart of this heart, and Farah Khan is one of the most dynamic and best exponents of the dancing musical sequences in Cinema. A world we take for granted, rarely giving it intellectual study, demands to be examined again and again. An Osianama Masterclass is a wonderful way to take forward this understanding. After the Adoor Gopalakrishnan and Shyam Benegal Masterclasses, the Farah Khan Masterclass was also a major eye-opener to the art and craft of cinema.”

Added Farah Khan – “I have presented Masterclasses the world over, from Melbourne to London to Morocco during International Film Festivals. This was my first in India. And I enjoyed sharing my experiences with the Indian audiences. I support Osian’s cause of bringing the best of world cinema to the masses at no cost and I am sure that students of cinema as well as cinema aficionados will benefit from us sharing our experiences as directors.” The Masterclass, as stated, was part of Osianama’s ongoing Womanhood Festival and  was followed by the screening of Om Shanti Om.
