Pune, March 07, 2016: International Women’s Day celebrates the spirit of womanhood, their strength, valour and their accomplishments. On the eve of International Women’s Day, Vodafone India, one of India’s leading telecom service providers decided to step away from the clichéd celebrations and joined hands with Pune Traffic Police to organize a Road Safety Awareness Drive headed by the women employees of Vodafone.

Six teams comprising of five women employees each fanned out across Pune city to promote road safety awareness among the motorists and pedestrians. The teams covered the important road and traffic junctions of Pune city to emphasize on safety aspects. The six teams carried placards on the 8 ASR’s (Absolute Safety Rules) and distributed Pocket Cards containing the salient features of 8 ASR’s among the motorists and pedestrians.

The awareness drive was flagged off by Ashish Chandra, Business Head- Maharashtra and Goa, Vodafone India along with Mr. Sushil Kadam, Senior Police Inspector and Ms. Rupali Kulthe, Police Sub Inspector from the Vodafone Office in Wakdewadi and covered locations such as JM Road, Deccan, Alka Chowk, Tilak Road, Station Road and Karve Road/Kothrud.

Speaking on the occasion, Ashish Chandra, Business Head- Maharashtra and Goa, Vodafone India said, “We at Vodafone believe women are incredibly influential and are equipped with the power to bring about a positive change in the society.  Road safety is an issue that can impact everyone and women with their multifaceted personality can play a very important role in creating awareness and sensitising the society. International Women’s Day gives us an ideal platform to gather the collective strength of our women employees in spreading an important message on road safety.
