Journey to the top league table was not easy but an experience worth to celebrate and to be proud of. The hunger for success was evident when the team saw complete change in its squad and when management roped in star players to the team. It was carefully strategized and well appreciated.  Pune franchisee of Star Sports Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), Puneri Paltan signed significant players from previous season and built its team as a strong opponent. The team had strategically added new enthusiastic talented players with a mix of top raiders and defendants.

Ashok Shinde, Coach of Puneri Paltan said, “It’s a feeling of mission accomplished and all our hard work has paid off. I am really thankful to the players and management who trusted me in what I was doing.  After the first phase, very few people expected us to reach the semi-finals. But we believed and played each game as our final match. We had nothing to lose from the game, so the only option was to win. It’s a team effort and sheer hard work of the players who worked as one team. Players continued to work hard and relentlessly and the proof of it is that we have reached this position.”

Kailash Kandpal, Team Manager, Puneri Paltan said, “Throughout history, people love rooting for the underdog and seeing them succeed. The underdog is often perceived as inferior to the opposition, maybe not as technically gifted or athletically gifted, and therefore the challenge to win is greater. For my team, we went into every game believing that we could win the game, no matter what our perceived status was. I really appreciate the support of all the fans not only from Pune but from everywhere and sponsors for trusting us. It was great team effort.”

The team will be playing its semi finals match against one of the three semi finalists at Thyagaraj Stadium New Delhi. It will be an exciting and enthralling for Puneri Paltan fans to watch their favorite players on mat roaring for glory.
