The exquisite rendering of a ‘Pallavi’ affectionately composed and choreographed by Smt. Lalith Sivakumar and rendered by her with Dr. Nithyashree Mahadevan marked the 97th Birth Anniversary commemoration of Padma Vibhushan Smt. D. K. Pattammal; organised by Aanmajothi (Cultural Wing of Sarawathi Vidyalaya) and the Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan.
As a part of the celebration, this year’s ‘Smt. D. K. Pattammal ‘Birudhu’ and Title ‘Isaijothi’ was conferred to well-known musical artiste Shri O. S. Arun by Shri. L. Sabaretnam, Chairman of the Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan, Chennai Kendra.
Shri. L. Sabaretnam placed on record the Bhavan’s association with Smt. D K. Pattammal over many decades and considered it a blessing to be able to conduct the commemorative event along with Aanmajothi. He congratulated Shri O S Arun on his amazing virtuosity and being conferred with the award.
Dr. Nithyashree Mahadevan congratulated Aanmajothi for its work in corporation schools and the affection shown by the organization in conducting ‘Smt. D. K. Pattammal’ Birth Anniversary commemorative every year from 2010 and remarked on the positive aspects of showcasing a role model in Nationalistic and divine music, for the coming generations.
Smt. Geetha Rajsekar and Shri K N Ramaswamy, Director the Bhavan’s Chennai Kendra, were also present during the function.
Aanmajothi is an organisation which aspires to work for the preservation and propagation of the rich cultural heritage of India through efforts to take Music and Dance to children and the youth. It is the Cultural Wing of Saraswathi Vidyalaya, which is sponsoring the Project through the ‘ Smt K Saraswathi Endowment Fund’.
